Hi Parents,
My apologies... I forgot to send the home reading books today. I will remember for tomorrow. There is a notice today about the upcoming Halloween Dance at our school on Thursday, Oct. 27! Today we learned about the letter Hh and wrote words with h at the beginning and middle. In math, we focused on building the numbers 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 using ten frames. This afternoon, we started creating our mural of a community. Kids got to make houses and other important buildings/places that would be found in a community. Tomorrow is our first Sibbald U. The students are excited to begin! Happy Wednesday!
Today the students printed the letter i and identified words that have i at the beginning or middle. The kids wrote in their journals all about our visit from AARCS yesterday. In math, students played a game called Face Off where they had to recognize numbers on the ten frames. This afternoon, we watched a cool video about the concept of belonging. We then brainstormed a list of places/buildings that we need to have in a community. Today, your child has brought home a pink piece of paper that tells which Sibbald U. course they have gotten into. Sibbald U. begins this Friday, Oct. 14!!! Welcome back to school... in the snow! Glad to see students dressing for the colder weather.
Today we printed and learned about the sound of Ww. The students wrote in their journals about their long weekends. In math, the students made numbers with ten frames. The highlight of the day was our visit from AARCS. The kids learned about caring for dogs and other pets as well as reading dog body language. Then they got to meet and pet the dogs. The kids loved it and each student brought home a coloring book about AARCS. Just a reminder that Photo day is coming up next week on Thurs. Oct. 20 and kids should return their photo request sheet. Today the students showed ways to make the numbers 11 and 39 in math.
They printed the letter Nn and found words that had n in the beginning, middle and end. The students used a picture prompt to write about. In the afternoon, we talked all about being thankful and the kids made thanksgiving wreaths for TWAS. An important notice went home today about AARCS. This needs to be returned on Tuesday, Oct. 11. No school tomorrow or Monday. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had a busy day in grade 1 and 2.
The students continued to represent numbers in various ways in math. For writing, the students had to draw and write about dogs. Sibbald U. sheets are due tomorrow. Please return the sheet with your child's top 4 choices. We have library tomorrow. Please return any books that are at home. School Photo notices went home today. Our photo day is coming up on October. 20th. Today we finished up our unit on color. We brainstormed all the things we learned and did a cool experiment with Skittles! Ask your child...
The kids heard a story about being thankful and wrote in their journals what they are thankful for. In math, the students showed ways to make the number 25. Students learned about the 8 new Sibbald U. courses being offered and a notice was sent home. Please discuss this at home and return your child's top 4 choices for Sibbald U. by Thursday this week. Thanks! October book orders were sent home today and are due next Tuesday. Wow! I can't believe it is already October!
Volunteering opportunities will begin soon. If anyone would like to be our room parent and set up the volunteer schedule, please contact me asap. Thanks! The students printed the letter Oo and we wrote words with o in the beginning, middle and end. In journals, the kids wrote about their weekends. For math, we started learning about representing or showing a number in many ways through pictures, objects, words, tally marks, ten frames and so on. In art/science, the kids learned about the warm versus the cool colors and painted a fall leaf using this understanding. A notice was sent home today about fire safety. |
