Tomorrow the students should find out which new course they will be in for our final round of Sibbald U.! If your child wants to participate in Shave Your Lid, please fill in and return the bottom part of the yellow form handed out last week. Today the students had to figure out which was more: 2 dimes and 8 pennies versus 5 nickels and 3 pennies. We found out they were EQUAL!
The students chose something special from their home city of Calgary. They then painted a picture of that image. In math, the students counted dimes and dimes and pennies. They are getting to be good counters and know how to start with the coin that has the highest value first. In P.E. we enjoyed another session working on the gymnastics equipment. In science we predicted what items would stick to a magnet and which ones wouldn't. Just a reminder that THE GREEN SIBBALD U. SELECTION FORMS ARE DUE TOMORROW! Today we worked on our stories and we learned about editing for capitals and periods.
In math we did another session of trading our pretend money. NJ came up with trading 10 nickels for 2 quarters. Good idea! The students are becoming more familiar with counting money, remembering to always begin with the highest coins. In social studies the kids wrote about their special Calgary place/thing. In PE we worked on different ways of traveling such as crawling, side-stepping, hopping and rolling. Skipping Club starts next Tuesday at lunch for all who want to skip! LIBRARY tomorrow and lots of kids have overdue books. |
