Today we found out about Groundhog Day. Unfortunately the groundhog is predicting 6 weeks more winter.
The kids learned about 4 ways to begin a story: describing the setting or a character, begin with an action, begin with a sound word or begin with your character talking. Then the kids got into pairs and used their setting and character to tell the start of their stories. Then they wrote it down. We had some great story beginnings. The highlight of the day was our ice cube experiment. The students loved creating their devices to keep the ice cube from melting and everyone was successful compared to the control ice cube that wasn't insulated. A reminder there is NO SCHOOL TOMORROW - PD Day Pink field trip forms are due on Monday. Please make sure you have skates and a helmet for Tuesday, our first skating day. Book orders are also due on Monday.
